About this event

Aim - To increase understanding, awareness, and skills of working directly in a therapeutic setting with victims of domestic abuse.

This course opens up the conversation about Gender Based Violence and the impact it has on its victims. The discussion takes place around how to spot, manage and support any risk associated with domestic abuse and give you the tools and knowledge in working in a therapeutic setting with them. Also includes information on the new Domestic Abuse Scotland act and aims to evaluate any risks for both client and professional.

Who is this workshop aimed at? Therapists, Counsellors, Third Sector staff members with an interest in or working directly with victims of domestic abuse.

Facilitator

Jackie Hay is a Qualified CBT Therapist, with her own private practice, Clinical Supervisor and Co-Facilitator with ACT Counselling Services. Jackie has a wealth of knowledge in the Domestic Abuse Field through her work at Women's Aid where she has gained a Professional Development Award in Domestic Abuse Support and Advocacy. Jackie has her COSCA Trainers Accreditation at Diploma Level.

Jackie was part of the Scottish Government Funded Project run by Scottish Women's Aid to develop and deliver bespoke training to all Women's Aid Groups and external agencies within the network.
